my featured review! SPOILERS: MASSIVE
apparently I watched one man make every possible wrong decision and decided this was my emotional support movie.
I don’t actually know how I’m supposed to rate Revenge of the Sith because at this point it has stopped being a movie and become some kind of invasive species living in my brain.
I can be talking about a completely unrelated cinema technical failure and five seconds later I’m already at “YOUR NEW EMPIRE??” “MY ALLEGIANCE IS TO THE REPUBLIC, TO DEMOCRACY!” like this is a normal thing for a human being to remember.
Also I know Anakin is making terrible decisions. I KNOW. This does not stop me from watching him make another terrible decision and thinking oh no baby maybe THIS TIME you will suddenly develop judgment. Somehow no.
And Obi-Wan. Poor Obi-Wan spends half my imaginary expanded universe being forced to deal with Anakin even more than canon already forced him to deal with Anakin, which may be proof that I love him or proof that I am his greatest enemy.
The thing I like about the prequels generally is that I already know everything is going to become horrible. There is no “maybe this ends well.” Luke’s story has hope waiting for it. This one is basically watching the train approach the broken bridge while everybody onboard is having interpersonal problems.
Anyway ten out of ten? Two out of ten? Rating refused. I have lost objectivity approximately seventeen AUs ago.
